Tsavo East is one of Kenya’s largest and wildest parks, celebrated for its vast open landscapes and rich red-earth scenery. Known for its red-dust elephants, Tsavo East offers some of the most iconic wildlife sightings in the country, especially along the life-giving Galana River.
The park’s expansive savannahs, dotted with thorn bushes and baobab trees, create the perfect backdrop for spotting lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and large herds of elephants. Birdlife is abundant, with over 500 species recorded.
Its untouched, rugged nature gives Tsavo East a truly authentic wilderness feel — ideal for travelers seeking raw, unspoiled safari adventure.
Tsavo West is known for its dramatic, diverse scenery — from volcanic hills and lava flows to natural springs and lush oases. The park’s most famous attraction is Mzima Springs, a crystal-clear water source fed by underground streams from Mount Kilimanjaro, where visitors can see hippos and crocodiles from an underwater viewing chamber.
Tsavo West also features the striking Shetani Lava Flow, rolling plains of black volcanic rock, and excellent wildlife viewing, including elephants, rhinos (in the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary), leopards, buffaloes, and countless bird species.
More scenic and varied than Tsavo East, Tsavo West offers a beautiful blend of landscapes, wildlife, and geological wonders — perfect for photographers and nature lovers.
